All that I've done is knowledge that only I have.
What I do with that knowledge is entirely up to me,
But the result will be me--
Eternally.
I wrote this profound (?) thought when I was a teenager.
I thought of it today when someone quoted her grandmother as saying,
"Everyone at some point in the day must lie down, close their eyes, and be alone with themselves....
For years I have had in the back of my mind the words to a poem by Edgar A. Guest:
I have to live with myself, and so,
I want to be fit for myself to know;
I want to be able as days go by,
Always to look myself straight in the eye;
I don't want to stand with the setting sun
And hate myself for the things I've done.
Whatever happens, I want to be
Self-respecting and conscience free.
We are born into this world alone.
We will leave this world alone.
We will stand before the Judgement Bar alone.
Other people have a great deal to do with every step of our journey.
But ultimately, we are on our own.
Sleep well.

Your posts are like poetry Georgia, so beautiful. This thought is both comforting and frightening because of the responsibility of it all. I do think what you wrote as a teenager was profound--apparently you were insightful then too.
Are you trying to give us a scare? Now I'm all sorts of self-conscious and worried. Add this to the motivation list of reasons to improve. I love you
I have to admit that every time I read your blog, I want to hang in the towel and quit writing on mine. It seems that every single post you write is thought-provoking and filled with profundity. Definitely inspiring. And to think that you almost didn't do it because you thought it would be selfish! So glad you changed your mind.
