I wonder --
if friends aren't almost as important, in the eternal scheme of things, as family.
Christ describes himself as our Friend.
Christ called Abraham, his apostles and other faithful men his Friends. He wants us to be his follower, his servant, his child, and his Friend.
Sounds pretty important to me.
Where would we be in life without good friends?
Can we even begin to name the ways we have been blessed by friends?
Can we count the times we have been helped by them?
Can we measure the depth and breadth of their influence in our lives?
Friends are more than "the bacon bits in the salad bowl of life".
They are more than that which "makes of this earth a garden" (Goethe).
Friends may have as much to do with our eternal salvation as our family.
I've had some very special friends in my life.
Among my very best friends are my sisters and my daughters.
The love and learning I experience with them makes an eternal difference in my life.
I hope I can be that kind of friend.
I'm glad that
A friend is one who knows you and likes you anyway.
I feel safe knowing that
A friend loveth at all times.
I have faith that
Families can be together forever, and so can friends.
Ahh, then it will be Heaven.
See you there!

I am so with you on this. I've worried before that I was cleaving too much unto my friends and not to my family, and wondered if that was wrong. But I get so much comfort and insight from my friends that I have thought that I would consider them family if that's what I need to do to make it alright. I need them, and I feel sorry for people without many friends because no matter how often they tell themselves they're fine without them I just don't think it's true.
i just discovered your blog off of jills. and oohh lala. I love it!
My family (parents, siblilings)do not like me, so the only way i deal with that is by my friends. they have seriously saved my life!
I do have a few choice friends that will make the eternities and wonderful experience, but let's be honest... if you were my only friend, mom, it would still be heaven for me. You are my inspiration! (Special thanks to Chicago for unforgettable lyrics that corrupt a perfectly good compliment.) I love you!
