We jumped in with both feet and chose the topic of Polygamy.
I found the study of and the discussion about Plural Marriage to be enlightening, uplifting, and enriching. It made me richer in my knowledge of Church history, in my understanding of the workings of God, and in my testimony of the Restoration of all things. I feel a greater appreciation for faithful Saints, many of whom are my ancestors. I feel stronger and better for the experience I shared with other sisters. It was, in short, enriching.
Three cheers for Relief Society.
As I think about the spiritual experiences I've had in my life, many of them came because of service. But many of them came because of study. I know everyone has different needs, abilities and desires, but for me studying the gospel has brought me the most amazing experiences.
As scholars go, I really am quite lazy and casual. I have the attention span of a grade-schooler and the memory of a worm.
But like any teacher, the Lord loves and rewards a curious mind.
I find there is great power in coming to know, to understand, and to appreciate the Lord and His works.
It was my Father who opened windows for me to see that there is always more to learn. Thanks, Dad.
I've learned I do better when I know the whys and wherefores of things.
And knowledge is just so-- well, enriching.
Knowledge is power.
The more you read, the more you know.
The more you know, the smarter you grow.
The smarter you grow, the stronger your voice,
In expressing your view, or making your choice.

What a cool idea for an Enrichment group. How does it work? Do you have the topic ahead of time and bring ideas (like a book club) or do you just show up and someone else leads a discussion? I'm so curious.
I'm comforted by your description of the way you study and the way you remember. I'm like that too.
I have benefitted from your studies, lazy or not! Thanks for sharing what you learn AND the importance of studying with me!!
I love the idea of the enrichment study group, and I LOVE the notes you sent me on it! It sounds like an incredible experience.
This is how it works: We meet once a month, and the group decides on the topics. We all know them and, ideally, everyone studies ahead of time so we can have a meaningful and knowledgeable discussion instead of groping in the dark. No one leads it; it's open discussion.
We've only met once, and only one other sister had studied at all, and not much. I hope it's better next time. They seem anxious now to dig in. It was really nice to have answers instead of just questions.
We all loved it. It gave us an opportunity to learn on a deeper level, to ask questions, and to share our testimonies. It seems to fill needs that we all have.
Hey- you are MIA too! I made a comment on Elizabeth's blog and she posted. What are the chances that will work for you too? :)
