Handspring!

I've been bragging for years that I can still do a handspring.
My kids even brag to their friends that their mother can do a handspring.

But I realized it has been a few years since I have actually tried to do one.

With another birthday coming up, I decided it was time to see if I really could still do it, especially because I was having trouble doing cartwheels with my granddaughters.

Today was the day.

Mind you, now I have to prepare for it. I spent a few days on my treadmill, on my exercise ball, lifting weights and stretching to prepare for this event. After all, I didn't want to hurt myself. I took a big risk and did it when no one was home if I did get hurt.

I usually save this big event for an audience, but I didn't want to totally shame myself.

I donned my workout clothes, found good shoes, and headed for the backyard. It has a slight slant to it.

I stared across the yard, measuring the distance, checking the incline, debating whether it was worth the risk.

I took a trial run to see how it felt. I don't know......

Yes, I do. This is the day. I am going to do it!

I marched back up the hill, and without another thought I took off, jumped up, went down on my hands, and over I went. I did it!!!!

OK, to be honest, my gym teacher would not have passed it.
I landed as much on my bum as I did my feet. But I did it.

Just for good measure, I did a couple more. They didn't get any better. My days of landing clean on my feet may be over.

It hurt my wrists only a little, but I don't think I will be doing a lot more of them in my lifetime.

But at least once more. I need witnesses.

You're so brave, that could have been seriously painful! I haven't done a handspring in about 15 years and the last one I did was on a trampoline and I landed in the springs! Not good.

You're awesome. Happy Birthday today!

WOO HOO! I've never been able to do one. I think it's so fantastic you are still able to do it!

Jenny from Texas,
In my opinion, doing a handspring is NOT like riding a bike. It requires more than just remembering how.
People in McKinney go to where you live to get away. If we have to be in Texas, this is where we like to be. Stop by next time!
